YSP is short for an app that is called “Your Second Phone”. With this application you make normal 10 digit phone calls using the internet to call anywhere you’d like; you can make local phone calls or you can make international phone calls.
How this works is with the use of a feature that is located in your browser known as CallPoint. So what this means is that you can make phone calls with this feature. A special URL is assigned to you so that when someone enters it into the browser YSP calls you! This URL is your phone number. One thing that you should keep in mind is that the call point URLs are not permanent; they are temporary. The URL links will last for up to 6 hours after the first use, but if you call and stay on the call for longer than 6 hours you will still be able to talk for however long you’d like. In other words the 6 hours rule does not apply as long as you are on the phone talking.
So this is how it works:
- You will first need to Click on the button that says “Setup a Callpoint”.
- After you have clicked that button the call URL will be given to you.
- Proceed to give the special URL link to someone that would like to call you.
- They simply copy and paste it into the browser and the call starts;
- then you can talk with them for as long as you want.
Quoting the President of the United Status (POTUS), Mr. Barack Obama “This is an example of how technology and the internet can empower the sorts of conversations that strengthen our democracy over the long run.” – Like this if you appreciate what he said.[wpsr_facebook]
How do I know I can Trust YSP?
There is no need to be concerned or to feel that giving any of your personal information is a hassle with using the YSP application. The reason for this is because you are not required to give out any information that is extremely confidential. There is no catch and the whole reason for the use of the URL link to make phone calls is to keep your phone number private.
There is no data collected to track the person that is making phone URL link calls and using the YSP website, and any of your information that you might give is not given to anyone else. Google Analytics can be blocked from tracking any of the actions that you perform within YSP.
Visits are tracked, but nothing personal to the point where a customer’s information could get stolen. The phone numbers that you dial or save are not stored to be reviewed for any reason later on; they are always deleted so that no one will come in contact with them and try to use them later on.
In order to use the microphone Flash is required. You will also have to give permission for the YSP to access the microphone so that you can communicate with the person on the other end.
If for some reason you need help or have questions or concerns about anything that has to do with YSP all you have to do is visit the website, and the the owner whom is very friendly will quickly return answers to any of the concerns that you might have.
How does YSP work and Why is it free?
YSP is backed by Tropo’s cloud services that let you make cheap phone calls and send SMS (text messages) to anyone for pennies. They allow you to add phone calls and SMS services to your applications or websites using simple APIs (Application programming interface). However, it is not free and thus YSP has to pay Tropo for their services. We believe that YSP is ad supported. The small ad section on their website might pull enough clicks by visitors to balance their costs. However, we doubt that YSP can actually keep their lights on for a long period of time.
