Viber for PC: Step by step tutorial
In order to download Viber for PC you need to download an Android emulator on your PC first. This emulator will install a virtual runtime on your PC that can run Android based application. After that, since Viber for Android is already in the market, you can simply install Viber for Android on this android emulator. Then, when you run your emulator, it can run Viber for android inside it. This will let you effectively have Viber for PC without actually buying anything special.
Viber for android does not cost anything, therefore this hack will work for free. However, you need to have Java installed on your machine to download Viber for PC.
In short, follow the below steps to download and install Viber for PC:
- Install the runtime for Java on your computer if it is not already installed. You probably already have it though.
- Next step is to download and install an emulator for PC from Android website. This emulator will help you leverage the power of a smartphone from your PC.
- Install the emulator you downloaded in Step 2.
- Load the emulator by going to Start-> My Programs -> Emulator.
- Download Viber app for android on your Emulator. Once you have the emulator you can search for Viber on it same way you would search for Viber on your smartphone.
- Run Viber on your Android emulator as if it is Viber for PC. Thus, you have achieved Viber for PC.

Since you learned how to download Viber app on your windows PC, you can use the same method to install Viber for Mac. In order to do this, you need to make a small change in step 2. Instead of downloading Android emulator for PC, you can download Android emulator for Mac.
Rest of the steps are same and will work flawlessly. You will have android for Mac on your OSX platform in no time. Here are the steps to get Viber for Mac using Waleed’s method.
You will need ooVoo installed on your Mac/PC for this method to work.
Download it for free
Install ooVoo on your PC/Mac and make a call to test that it is working fine. If it works fine the rest of the process is easy. If you have errors in this step, let us know and we will suggest the alternate path.
Download and Install Blustacks from their website. (Download Link)
Search for Viber on Bluestacks and install it.
You will be given the option to setup Viber, go ahead and do it.
This should get you Viber without the burden of a raw emulator and its settings. Viber will work fine using this method and you will sure like it.
I didnt get viber msg nor viber calls for access code. and got error msg “an error has occurred during the viber activation process”.

I'm facing same problem, using viber on a windows7 based pc and android emulator, but didn't receive the activation sms, please advise what to do
I am using window 7 pc. Until step 5 is fine. On step 6 , when I install viber at android emulator I got the error message APPLICATION IS NOT SUCCESSFULLY INSTALL. Installed the emulator and Viber succesfully..The problem is when using it the first time, it requires activation and one should enter an active mobile number..entered mine and received an activation code through my mobile..activated it and wahlahh..still didn't work..
i tried to install viber from its website but it says “you don't have any devices” and doesnt let me download it.

I follow the steps, and i manage to open the “Viber” window, and have a “Android” icon flashing in it. From there nothing happens. I try to push buttons, reopen anything, but still nothing. I run it on a windows 7 laptop.

You don;t unzip it. Just double click on the DMZ file and it should automatically open a new window with an application bundle in it. Double click again and it will install the app. Now, you need to move it to the application folder. Hope that helps.

Can you provide us with a screenshot of what is happening? Also, post this in the forums at http://freecallshub.com/forums/forum-8.html so that you can get a lot of reviews from moderators as well as other readers.
The app store bluestacks link is probably empty because you’re using a mac. It took me a while to figure out that the only alpha we get so far is a severely crippled alpha-1 with no searching and adding of apps possible. So no Viber this way for mac users. At least for now, and the way their development is going, probably not for the foreseeable future.

I don’t quite get what the ooVoo install step is doing in the bluestacks method? How are they connected?
They aren’t connected. However, in the earlier days of this tutorial it was observed that our readers who did not have oovoo installed had issues with Viber. Hence, we recommend it. As weird as it sounds, one tech-savvy reader connected these two apps via a dynamic link library (dll file) for windows platform that was installed by ooVoo and helped in smooth operation. If you have something against oovoo just ignore that step and if it works fine you are good. Otherwise, install it, make a test call, install viber, and then uninstall oovoo to see if it still works.
I used the new method for Mac which is using BlueStacks. When I clicked on Viber it searches for Network Connectivity. What does that mean?
That step is where Viber is looking to see if you have Internet connection or not. If your Internet is working fine, it will work just fine.

Installed successfully on MacBook OXS 10.8.2 using ooVoo and BlueStacks. BUT when I register with viber on my mac it unregisters viber on my phone. I re-registered on my phone and it unregistered on my mac. Can viber run on more than one device with the same account?
